Default 2000 ext cab 4wd truck- "wont start"

Truck wont start- Brought home from dealership yesterday-Had sungear in transmission repaired-$1500. on way home ran through car wash, got gas, home. went to start and nothing. lights , radio all work , no sound from starter. removed starter took to Oreillys had it checked-it works. checked all fuses and relays. Could it be PNP switch? How do I check? or what else can I check.

Hi jeffellis,

Welcome to the Chevy Forums.

How about the battery cables? When you went to the carwash, the steam and condensation probably heated up the corrosion in the wires.

If you have OEM cables, it's time to replace them. They'll eventually burn out your starter, alternator, and battery if you don't.

Ill check them, Was getting 12v at starter post but no signal to solenoid, assume I should get at least 5v there.

Ran new cables, no change. Should fuel pump run? Been haveing problems with fuel guage working intermittantly. I may be wrong but it should crank whether fuel pump works .Right?

You may want to check under the vehicle, carefully look at the wiring harness modular plug which is connected to the pump on the tank. Sometimes that modular plug gets burned out.

I couldn't hear my pump running from the inside of my truck, but you should hear it running back by the gas tank, if you listen at the tank while some one keys the ignition.
