2000 Silverado A/C on and off
I have a 2000 extended cab that the A/C will stop cooling when the outside temp is really hot. It will cool for about 10 minutes then it won't cool. Fan continues to run, just blows normal air temp. You can turn off A/C completely for 2-3 minutes and turn a/c back on and it will cool again for awhile and then shut off again. Weird thing is, it doesn't do this when the outside temp is not really hot. Been told that these trucks have an "outside temp sensor" that is bad. Also been told I was low of Freon and unit was "freezing up". I don't believe it is low of Freon, it cools really well when it is operating. Any suggestions, I don't want someone to be a "parts changer" to get possibly a simple problem repaired. THANKS for any help

That really does sound like it's freezing over. Try pulling your temp more towards "warm" to give it more of a chance to 'defrost'. Especially so, if you are in a hot humid climate.
If anything, it might be overcharged. R134a is real picky 'bout that.

Will try the "warmer" setting. It's never been charged so it wouldn't be the overcharge. I'm definitely in humid climate in the state of MS! Thanks
