Default 2001 Chevy silverado 4l60e tranny help!!!

i am in the middle of taking out my transmisson in a 2001 4x4 chevy, and i cant get to the top bolts out im not even sure how many there are yet... is there any trick to get them? I cant even with the rear trans mount out and trying to lower it down it wont drop but a 1/2 inch from where it was. Can anyone at least tell me how many bolts or nuts there are.

2. 2 bolts.

The trick? You need a 3/8" or 1/2" drive 30" extension with a swivel U-joint socket on the end to get it on there from an angle. Then you hit it with your air ratchet or impact gun and zzzzp it comes straight out.

To put them in? Stuff a little wad of paper in the socket to secure the bolt and then line it up by hand in the hole and give it a few turns to keep it stuck in the socket nicely. Then when its in there nicely, hit it with the ratchet or gun to lock it down.

Of course you took out the transfer case FIRST right?

nope. one at 11 and another at 1 o clock. The trans. connects to the motor with those dowels.
