Default 2001 Chevy Silverado Fuel Pump question

I did not see it listed in the search, does anyone know if the 5.3V8 model Silverado has a 1 wire connector or a 2 wire connector for the fuel pump? I need to replace the fuel pump and have been asked which one I need. I called my local dealership and was basically told, "Bring it in we have what you need, you are lookin at this much...."

I know there are numerous other options than get screwed by the dealer, so any help is greatly appreciated.

Default Pump

Just replaced my fuel pump on my 2001 Silver 1500 4x4 W/ 5.3. Mine had the 2 connector pump. You can see the top of pump by looking in the drivers rear wheel well looking towards tank filler line. May need a flashlite and mirror. Get four big friends or use a engine lift to get bed off as its much easier than dropping tank. You will have to rewire a new plug in as the new pumps come with a updated connector. Soldier the wires and protect with shrink wrap. About a 1 to 2 hr job with a beer break. E-bay has a few AC Delco pumps at a cheaper price than RockAuto. RockAuto is a great parts place to buy, but if I can get the same part cheaper I will.

The difference is the one with 2 connectors has the tank pressure sensor in the top. Most have 2. Any real parts store should be able to tell based on the RPO codes in the glove box. It should have them listed in the pump description. Only buy an ACdelco or Delphi pump as other brands have a high premature failure rate.

The Beer break was just a ha ha, don't drink anyway. When doing any job that requires you to lift something be safe and double check that your safe crawling under it.

Thanks for the info, Rock Auto has the AC Delco and Delphi's reasonably priced. I have heard Airtex is basically garbage so I not going to go that way. I would much rather pay a little bit more money and get a quality product.
