Default 2003 Silverado 5.3 heater core install

I am having heating issues - not very hot, thinking about flushing system first but wanted to know if anyone is having similar problems on a 2003 model - 110k miles, and should I be looking at replacing the core. I smelled fluid once last week for first time and have not checked hoses to see if one's hot and the other is cold as of yet.

Default Heater Core install

Thanks - I already flushed the system, replaced hoses & thermostat last summer, but in Phoenix - we do not need the heat as much - and just now starting to see a problem.

Good advice! - I'll replace the thermostate & do a flush, hope this will fix it. Thanks.
