Default 2003 Silverado V6 im getting a strong gas smell

Hello everyone
this is my first post I own a 2003 Silverado 1500 w/ a V6 engine. I am experiencing a strong gas smell and I have a code that reads P0455 can anyone provide some pointers at what I should check first.

With a P0455 code you can try removing and reinstalling the gas cap, clear the codes, and drive for a day and see if the codes come back. Otherwise, replace the gas cap, and/or Inspect the EVAP system for cuts/holes in tubes/hoses (you may hear a vacuum noise or smell fuel), repair if necessary

I'd check the tubes / hoses for loose connections, holes, cuts, breaks, etc.

Do you fill the tank, and round up to the nearest dollar,

when the pump clicks off? You could be flooding your

EVAP system with gas, if you do. THAT would give you the

code, and the gas smell.
