Went and looked at a 2004 2500HD today, the dealership was closed so I didn't get to really really look at it, but I've made the huge jump from Ford to Chevrolet as of last year, my grandfather worked in a Ford factory, but anyways.... Is this a good truck? It's a V8 and a 5spd I believe? It's and extended cab good looking truck but is it reliable? decent gas mileage...yes i know not car mileage but decent? are there many problems that come from these trucks? Thanks and appreciate any and all help!!

my son had a 06 2500hd as a company truck, it was a good truck but mpg were about 14 mpg on highway and 11-12 around town. However, company was paying for gas so i guess he did not drive it as easy as i would have.
it did ride harsh on rough roads but its a heavy duty old truck so its has heavy springs and stiff tires. they treat the trucks rough in the gas fields, they were breaking the frames on 1500 models so they when to 2500
pulling stuck trucks out of the mud with a track hoe can be hard on a truck frame.
needless to say when he turned it in at 36K for a new truck I did not offer to buy the old one.
