Default 2004 chevy 4.3 to v8 engine swap help

i was thinking about swaping my 4.3 engine in my 2004 chevy single cab for a v8 of some kind... i was wondering if it would just be cheaper to not worry about this and get a new truck with a v8 or about the same money to just go ahead and do the swap... i am not too sure if the wiring harnesses of the 4.3 that are in my truck now would match up to the v8 harness... any help is appreciated

I just did the swap with my 2001. Except I had a 4.8L V8 and went back with another 4.8L V8 from a 2004. I have a 4x4 so it wasn't so bad rolling around under the truck but I don't want to have to do it again. It's a big project. Not everything was the same even though they are the same size motors.

If your truck runs I wouldn't do it. Sell it and buy another with a V8. If you are just wanting to do it just to say you did it then go for it. It's a big project. Wires everywhere and not much room to get the bolts back in. You can get most of them out without too many problems but going back in it's not easy. Espically if you want to use a torque wrench.
