2004 Chevy Silverado Vortec V8
hello, i am new to the chevy world here.
i have some questions.
i have a 2004 Chevy Silverado Vortec V8
when i start the engine. it has no oil pressure for about 3-4 minutes. doesnt matter if i rev it up or not.
after about 3-4 minutes of driving. the oil pressure comes up and stays there until the engine is turned off. has about 40psi at idle
what could this possibly be???
oil pump? bearings? clogged oil galley?

It could be the sensor going bad. You would know it if you were not getting any oil pressure (it would sound like it does when you first start it after and oil/filter change). If you are not hearing those sounds, I would start with the sensor.
Hope that helps

To me, it seems like its a gauge problem. I had a chevy where the oil pressure was pegged to the top. I knew it was not right because the car would have blown up. I would say its a sensor as well.

Its probably your gauge in the dash. All these trucks had defective instrument clusters. If your truck truly had no oil pressure, the computer would shut it down and it would barely run in "limp mode"
