Default 2004 Silverado 1500 4.3 V6 engine shut off while driving

My 2004 Silverado died while driving on the freeway. Was in 5th gear, doing about 65 mph, jumped out of gear, and just stalled. I coasted to side of road, and attempted restart. It turned over, but would not fire. lights and radio still worked, but battery indicator came on. Had it towed home and now lights and radio do not work but engine will still turn over. Thinking it might be the coil. Any other ideas? Thank you.

Bad coil or bad ICM.

Use starting fluid or carb cleaner in the intake. If it fires, spark is good and it’s probably fuel delivery - check fuel pressure. If it doesn’t fire, test for spark.

My Mechanic said it is the Coil and Module along with a bare wire and is still working the issue. Is this a high dollar fix?

It depends on how far the repairs need to go. The coil and module are riveted to the same bracket at the factory but can be replaced separately. The question is if the module went bad and fried the coil, or it could be your mechanic was just trying to make sure that a bad coil wouldn’t fry the new module. Coils are not easily tested without a scope - they can be bad and still produce spark.

I’m curious what the bare wire was.
