Default 2005 1500 v6 starting problem

Truck will not start unless I press on gas pedal. If I dont press pedal engine will try to start but will immediately die. It seems to run fine after I get it started but has stalled out a few times when I accelerate from a stop. Problem is intermittingly. Sometimes it starts just by turning the key and other times must press on gas pedal. On occasions after starting, the motor will rev up to 2RPM and eventually will drop back to 800-1kRPM. Even more weird is the gauges peg out counter clockwise after starting and the auto door locks activates immediately. This may be normal I just dont remember it being like that. Any ideas what to check for?

Thanks Mike. The GM dealer tells me there is no reason for him to hook up a code reader if the check engine light is not on. Is this true?

Hey Hawk,
Same Truck Similar problem, but my light was on. MAF Sensor fixed the low RPM's for me. But kept on stalling out till it wouldn't start no more. I've changed the fuel pump/filter. Others have said it may be the Fuel Pressure Regulator could be why you need to press on the gas for the truck to start. Now I'm going to try the Ignition module.
Good Luck
