Default 2005 chevy silverado power steering failure

nov 16 i had the power steering pump replaced as steering was verybad. After it was replaced it was alot better about 3 weeks later had problems again. They said it was the power steering gearbox replaced that. the next day brought it in becuase steering was not working they replaced the pump for a second time. i waited about one more month to test it out see how it was working and steering still not working good. took truck in again wensday should be done tomm. they are replacing pump and gearbox again. Truck has 37,000 miles on it. is this the type of "quality" i should expect to get from a company that was given billions of dollars in bailout money? my last gm car i bought had alot of problems as well. must have bought a car that was built on a friday.

anyone hear of power steering problem being fixed this many times?

Do you have variable speed steering? (you would have a electrical connector on the back of the p/s pump) If so you probably need the solenoid in the pump.

Default Same Issue maybe

I have a 2005 Z71 and yesterday turning left, the pump made a whining noise. Especially noticeable at idle. Very difficult to turn to the left! and very easy to turn right.

The steering has always been a little difficult at idle. Now yesterday, my wife almost missed the driveway as she could not steer the truck left without more effort.

Checked fluid level and it is OK cold, a little low hot... but the pump does not seem to get all that hot after turning back and forth in a parking lot for five minutes.
I greased all the ball joints and rod ends, and checked that steering was not binding up by pushing the wheels back and forth by hand while on jack stands.

Any help on a fix would be terrific.

Thanks,
Travis
