2005 Silverado 1500 belt tensioner help
Ok - got a stupid question for you all.
I have to replace alternator on my '05 Silverado, but can't figure out where belt tensioner is.
And then how do I release tension to get the belt off?
When I bought alternator today from my local auto parts store (major chain store), they showed me engine diagram with alternator low on the passenger side of the engine and tensioner next to or beneath...
Problem is my alternator is at top drivers side of the engine... I tried to explain and got nowhere...
Be gentle with me for my question please!

I have the V8 and my alternator is the top right of the belt sequence. The belt tensioner is the top left and it takes a 5/8 or something socket wrench and you just crank it down and pop of the belt.
I can look in the Haynes manual for specifics if you are still strugling with this.
The alternator is the top right in the video below. The pully that you need to access to take off the belt is the top left in the video that you cannot see.

you need a 15mm i believe. I do know that it is metric and tensioner is the pulley to left of water pump pulley, it is actually bolted to top left of water pump and has the bolt head or stud or what ever you wanna call it pertruding out.
