Default 2005 Silverado 5.3 with 10w 40 oil

I finally got a hold of the previous owner of the truck I just bought. Said he never had any problems with the truck, but he said one thing that concerned me. He told me he changed the oil every 3k ith 10w 40.

Should I be concerned? He put about 20k on the truck.

Edit: I should add this truck spent the winters in Arizona so it's only been in warmer climats.

It should not be a problem, just switch it back to 5-30w when its due.

I didn't figure it would be too big a deal. The dealer put 5w30 in it before putting in on the lot.

Thanks!
