Yes I am sure there is some kind of fee for all data. We pay a large fee every six months but we have it for all makes and models, loaded on the hard drives of all 7 computers in the shop.

Yea its like $24 bucks a year, not bad. I am sure the buisness licence options have more updated databases.

Can someone tell me where the evap em. control system vent solenoid is located? Also, should I try a new gas gap before I do any other replacements? Not sure if this code is a standard one for a bad gas cap.

that might be less costly route, or try swapping with another vehicle if one is available

Justin, My solenoid vent valve was located behind the back passenger side of the gas tank, but not hooked to the gas tank. It was accross from the tank on a hanger that is mounted on the frame I think. It will have a hard plastic hose running between the charcoal canister and the valve itself and have a two wire plug, plugged into the vent valve. My canister was located above the gas tank. Now this was on my 2005 1/2 ton Silverado. I hope this helps. Later Jerry

Yea ,I guess my free option from my old work login is best for me helping people on the forums. That would be nuts for me to get a shop licence just to be helpful to people here I am going to order shop manuals for my 2 vehicles eventually.

I have always purchased the factory service manuals for my vehicles and they have paid for themselves over the course of the life of the vehicle, $150 for manuals may sound like a lot until its Sunday evening and your still working on your truck and can't figure out what the firing order is or the tightening sequence of something is.... Not to mention for some of us geeks its just plan fun to thumb through a shop manual and see what interesting finds you come across...
I would love to get the DVD versions but not willing to shell out the $400 for that... thou I would consider dawning an eye patch and a wooden leg to get it ....

O.K. this is the deal. I have checked the wire from the canister vent valve to the PCM and it is good. The new valve is good and it has power, so the problem looks like it is in the PCM. I can get a PCM for around 125 dollars from a salvage yard. I am also trying to decide if the defective part in the PCM can be fixed at a reasonable cost compared to taking it to the dealer. If the dealer replaces the PCM, it will probably be way more than 125 dollars, but if I get the used PCM, then the dealer has to reprogram the PCM for my truck. So I guess my question is for Chevrolet Service Techs, which would be the way to go?
