I have a 2006 silverado 2wd 5.3liter. It has 84500 mile on it.I just purchased this vehicle used, I don't have any prior service records, but the truck is in excellent condition. I just did my first oil change today. It was driven for 1000 miles before today since I purchased it.I used Mobil 1 synthetic. with mobil 1oil filter. I am also considering flushing the transmission. What I would like to do is this.
Flush using a good quality synthetic trannyfluid and change filter and clean screen.. Drive it for about a month or a 1000 miles and then change the fluid (not flush) and filter again. I want to do this because I have heard that the syntheticfluid will break up any build up and/or sludge and this will get caught up in the filter causing premature filter failure. So before this happens I would change the fluidand filter. After the change I plan on doing regular maintenancefluid and filter changes, if using synthetic tranny fluid how long can I safely go between changes??? Anyone with chevy tranny experience that could advise me in this matter I would greatly appreciate it.

 

No experienced chevy mechanics out there have an opinion on this, I take that as A bad sign?
I was told that the factory dextron VI is a synthetic tranny fluid? Is this correct? And should I do a flush or just filter and fluid change, and clean screen and magnet, without the flush and possible future problems? I know someone out there must have an opinion?
