Default 2007 Silverado 1500 Active Fuel Management question?

Just bought a new Chevy 1500 2wd, 5.3 V8 with Active Fuel Management. I have tried to lisen or "feal" the switch between 8 and 4, however I have not been able to. Is it that smooth? I took it for a ride today where I was on a steedy decline for over a mile. Cruise was on 55 and the engine was working very little. So I thought that is when it should kick in. Maybe I am just not hearing or fealing it. My truck is crew cab work truck so it doesnt have all the fancy features with buttons and driver displays, however is there a light or message on the dash indicating V4 mode? Thanks for any input.

It is smooth. I can't tell when it changes from 8 to 4 or from 4 to 8. The only way I know is if I watch the DIC, (drivers information center).

Without going out to look at it, I think, if you go to the instant mileage readoutyoucan see itthere. You can watch it flip back and forth from 4 to 8.

Do you have a single button in the middle of the gauges that changes your display, or do you have that and the four DIC buttons on the dash? If you don't have the the four buttons, you will need to add them, then you will see the Instant Economy Screen with a section that switches between V4 Mode and V8 Mode. Here is a link to what the buttons look like---http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/results.cfm?singlepart=1&AddPartNumber=1915943 8&partnumber=19159438

Yea I only have the one button. It allows me to view Odomiter, Trip, Transmission Temp, Tire Pressure reset. So I guess I might need to take a trip to the dealer to have the extra features added. Thanks

the instant gas mileage isnt available (to my knowledge) on a WT without upgrading, I had the same question, but take it on a long distance (250 or so miles) trip, and youll see your mileage go way up (16 city 24 highway on my last trip, 5.3 std cab short bed)
