Default 2008 Active Fuel Management AFM with 5.3L

Has a way been determined yet to extend the amount of time engine will stay in V4 mode so it does not go to V8 on the slighest incline?

find a way to get more HP form the 4 clyits running on, it only kicks in as the truck need the power, so on any incline, or weight added to the truck it is most likely gonna go to V8..would it really makes sense to keep a 5000lbs truck running on 4 cyl trying to climb a hill, it would be working to death.

Some people have said that it seems to stay in longer in tow haul mode. I have not tried it yet so I dont know.

It's too bad that it can't go into a 6 cylinder mode as an intermediate between the 4 cylinder and 8 cylinder mode....

I have the same question as Boomer1, how can you tell if the engine shifts from 8 to 4 cylinders or vice versa? My IC doesn't have the listing for the AFM and the salesman says it just happens with no indication. I can drive on long flat roads and cannot tell the difference.

i feel a slight hesitation if i gradually speed up, you can feel it kick in and out, but i have flowmaster exhaust which makes it real obvious when its 4 or 8

I know what ya mean, mine sounds like a semi down shifting when 4 kicks in.

Watch your tach - when going into 4cyl mode the tach will raise slightly. Going back to 8cyl it will drop slightly.
