2008 crew cab - 20 inch vs 17 inch
I have a 2008 Chevy Crew cab 4x4 LTX, w/20 inch factory rimswith what i'd call of a street tread. Can I put 16 or 17 inch rims& tires on it that have more of an aggressive tread.
Also, gas milege on this truck is really bad, it's averaging 12-14 mpg. I previously had a 2004 Chevy Cab 4x4, LTZ that average 16 mpg.
thx

NBS (05-07classics) and NNBS trucks can only go down to a 17" rim size due to the brake sizes. 16" wheels will not fit. i personally hate 18" or larger wheels on a 4x4 truck. keep it at 17" the tires will be cheaper too. now on a street truck or say an ss silverado then yes 20" look great. although the 18" on the NNBS trucks doesnt look to bad.
good luck

Thx for the input, I'll either trade or sellthe 20 inch rims and put on the 16's or 17's. I agree, the look and functionality of the heavier tread is much better.

My 2007 NBS came with 17"s & I installed 20"s. I didn't think I needed to get the computer reprogeamed since they were almost the same diameter! Boy was I wrong. After talking to a friend who works in the service Dept. I had them program it & the truck ran better & got better milage by about .3mph . Also one dealer told me I didn't have to do it, but like I said it did make a difference. So from 20's to 17's check with a GOOD dealer as they are not all the same!
