Hi Every One,
My son just purchased a 2008 GMC2500HD crew cab and it has the message to service four wheel drive, when we hooked it up to the scanner we got the C0396 code. (scanner info below)Electrical is definitely my weak point but i also like a good challenge. what i am wondering is if any one here has seen a faulty transfer case control module, transfer case control switch,transfer case shift motor, transfer case speed sensors or the front axle shift motor cause this code. my first thought was a short but i have gone through all the wiring and connectors and found nothing. any ideas would be greatly appreciated. C0396Incremental Position Sensor Circuit Short To Battery,Ground or Open Circuit
C0396 sets if TCCM sees incremental 8-volt reference signal not between 1.5-8.2 volts or incremental impulse signal voltage not between 0.5-4.6 volts or if incremental low reference circuit has open or high resistance

 

Nobody has seen this problem ???
