Default 2008 Sierra 1/2 ton Crew Cab w/6.0

Anyone have any input on the 6.0 litre in a 2008 1/2 ton Sierra Crewcab? Just wondering about reliability and fuel mileage....Heard there was some issues at 100,000 mis. with lifter noise. Anybody?

My dad has one in his 07 vortec max. Thing is a beast when tuned right. Mpg is at 12.5 but he does drive the heck out of it. Just don't expect more out of it than that. And it has close to 100k and no issues

I have an 08 Chevy vortec max. Baby the poop out of the go go juice pedal. Average 11-12 mpg in city driving. At 75 mph, I'm right at 15 mpg. I have about 73k miles. Have changed brakes all the way around (the rears - because they are rotors- work a whole lot more than I expected). Replaced the plugs, both back o2 sensors, and scheduled maintenance.

Additionally, mine is 4x4 w/ the 3.73 rear end.

No noise from motor.

I have an 04 silver ado with the 6.o liter. I love it . Have over 235,000 miles on it. Will easily make it to 300,000 plus miles. The earlier 5.3 motors have the ticking noise that happens until they warm up. Short piston skirts on them, is what I have been told. My 2000 suburban ticks for a bout a minute and then goes away, has 135,000 on it. They are still good motors. My brother in law had 365,000 on his 04 silver ado with the 5.3 motor.

I have a 2004 Silverado, but it has the 5.3L. No lifter noise - no mechanical boo-boos at all (so far), even with 105k on it. I get about 14 or 15 in the city and 18 or 19 on the highway if I don't lead-foot it.

A guy from work has a 2004 with the 6.0L and says he gets 11 mpg in the city and about 15 on the highway; but his is a 2500HD. He has 120k on his truck and has no problems at all. He can tow a lot of weight with it, too.

I have an 07 chevy 1500HD 4X4 with 193000 km and runs like a dream, fuel milage is not that great but has good power, I tow a 34 foot holiday trailer that weighs 6600 lbs empty and it pulls great. There is no noise coming from the engine at all, only week spot on the engine is the exhaust bolts that hold the exhaust manifolds on, have a good look at them and make sure they are not broken, so far every 6 liter I have looked at has had at least one broken off(mine included), and it is usuallt the rear one on the drivers side. I tried drilling it and using an easy out(after the exhaust shop was unable to get it out) but broke the easy out off in the bolt, so I built a bracket that comes off the back of the head to pinch it so I don't get any exhaust tick while the engine warms up. Other wise truck runs great, I do recommend getting the engine remapped for better power
