I was curious. I'm getting ready to purchase a 2008 silverado short bed, auto with a V6, that does not have cruise. Say I purchase a replacement truck computer from a truck that had the same motor that also had cruise control. Could you not just put in the replacement computer in my truck and install an OEM steering wheel with cruise control on it? Am I crazy or is there something I'm missing?

Hi Jake,
If I remember correctly, when the 2007's came out, a local GM dealer could call GM with info from your trucks computer get the needed firmware and download it into your trucks computer and at that point an aftermarket switch kit or factory steering wheel would work. Unfortunately I guess GM decided that they no longer wanted to do that. The cruise kits that followed shortly after didn't work well. The current kit by Rostra has worked very well and is almost plug n play. We have them available on our web store shop.aftermarketspecialists.com
