Default Cruise Control Problems on a 2008 Silverado

Anyone have an idea what the cause of my cruise control not engaging unless I use my foot to pull the brake pedal up after braking? It doesn't appear the pedal moves at all when I do this but the Cruise Control will only work when I do this. Thanks!

Welcome to the forum. It sounds like you've found your problem. The brake light switch actually has two switch circuits, one for the BCM and the other, the ECM. I think the one for the BCM is not closing properly which causes the BCM to ignore the cruise control signals from the buttons on the steering wheel.

It's probably the switch if you see signs of excessive dirt or water intrusion (rust on the brake pedal). Also, try repositioning the wiring harness to make sure there's nothing funny going on at or near the switch electrical connector.

Cleaned it and creased it, all is working well. Thanks for your insight.

I have a 2008 3500 HD WT. I want to replace the steering wheel with one that has cruise control buttons. Is the truck prewired for cruise control?
