Default 2009 Duramax questions

My dad has a 2009 Crew Cab 2500HD with the Duramax. He's wanting to upgrade the power a little bit (around 50-75hp), and some friend of his was telling him that they bought a programmer for $150 and it bumped their HP by 50.

From what I have read, I don't see anything that cheap that produces that much power.

What would be his best option? He also pulls a 5th wheel travel trailer from time to time.

On a side note, the truck has 50K miles. Would putting a chip or programmer void the powertrain warranty that is 10yr 100K miles?

(poor dad didn't even know that his diesel was turbo'd)

A programmer on a diesel does a lot more than a programmer on a gasser. Though I don't know of that kinda powergain for 150, maybe 250. Look into BullyDog. I'll try to go into a lot more detail later, but I'm heading out the door.

With the newer diesels, it's harder to get HP/torque increases when compared to the previous ones. I could add up to 150 hp/350 torque on my 04 lb7 D-max with just the Edge Juice without using the "hot code"....on the LMM motors, 80 hp/135 torque is max you can add with an Edge Juice, but you have to remember the newer series D0maxes start at higher hp/torque rating from the factory. The Juice kits are over $500 new ($700 with the Attitude module) as are the Bully Dog prgrammers .... even the HyperTech programmers are over $300.. so I have no idea what he was told that costs $150 unless it was something used....
