Angry 2010 Chevy 1500 LTZ Radio Noise

I have a 2010 Chevy 1500 LTZ 4x4 I, bought brand new and have been dealing with this RADIO NOISE NIGHTMARE for almost two years now. I have taken it in for service for the constant crackling, hissing, and whineing noises at least 8 times and still no help or solution yet. I paid over $40,000 dollars for the truck and can not believe I am being tolod that its normal and theres nothing that can be done. Its a shame GMC will lose hundreds if not thousands of customers for this bull****. I have another appt. with the dealer in the morning and want the entire system replaced and dont want the truck back until this is fixed for good. Its driving me and my wife nuts. We can not even listen to the radio, instead have to listen to ipods with ear phones.

Like the other poster, I can hear it even with the key out of the ingition and even with the radio on at low volume (if I listen for it). I like to go on long drives across the county and this will not be acceptable. I plan to contact my dealer to see what they say.

On another note- I live in Texas and bought a Texas edition. It has "TEXAS EDITION" badges above the "Silverado" badge on both side front doors and also on the tailgate. I want to remove them. My truck is black. Anyone know if these can be removed without having witness marks/ghosting left behind? I asked the dealership and they quoted $150 to remove them and stated there might be ghosting left behind. They did not know for sure. Probably just cover their a!@. Anyone do this and what were the results?

Hope to hear back.
Thank you.

Mine is a 2011 so I don't have the whine that I know of...unless I an deaf which is a possibility. As far as the removal of the badges you can do it easily. Unless the truck is several years old there will be no ghosting, especially on the sides. I have the "Florida Edition". I removed my badges on a hot sunny day using dental floss. Came off quite easily. It was getting the double sided tape off that was time consuming. But all looks great! Hope this helps.

Unhappy Radio Noise

I am really glad that it is not only me that hears the noise, everyone thinks I'm crazy. Finally got the dealer to change out the radio, just got it back and the dam noise is still there. Just bought this truck my 5th chevy truck, and wish that I never, I really can not stand to drive it with the constant noise, turning up the radio don't work for this problem.

Default Update on GM 2012 radio noise

Took my 2012 Silverado 2500 in for the radio noise. Three different people there claimed not to hear anything. Service manager showed me a bulletin that said not to replace the radio because GM was looking into the issue.
So no resolution at this time.

Now I have to go back because of a chassis vibration while on the interstate when traveling between 67-75 mph and a rattling/vibration coming from the dash when driving on rough patches of road.

Default high pitch

Been having the same problem with my brand new truck. Dealer doesn't know what to do. They acknowledge that GM knows about it, but haven't received direction as to what to do. It definitely appears to be in radio. I completely unplugged the fuse for the radio and the sound dispappear. Had dealer replace radio, they replaced it with a new one (same model as what was in there) and still have the same problem. Obviously something in that model. Why won't they address this???

Smile Good News

GM has finally fixed my radio!!! After 3 months, 2 radios and many phone calls I don't have the noise any more!!! Call GM and tell them you want a model from Panasonic, my radio now has a DVD and CD player, I don't know if the DVD works or not but that model does not have the noise in it. When I picked up the truck yesterday, the manager was with me to take it for a test drive but soon as I opened the door I knew that they had finally fixed the problem. Call GM they do know how to fix this just they just don't want to replace thousands of radios,

I picked up a 2012 Silverado 1500 Extended Cab and I have the same issue. From reading all the posts, it makes sense that it is coming from the radio. All chimes originate from the radio. Therefore, whenever a chime is called for the radio has to turn on (even though it may look like it's off) and as a result turning the fan on. I think the same also happens when opening or closing the door, the radio turns on.

Angry Still getting the run around from GM

I waited more than the 6-8 weeks that the dealership told me to wait before calling about a resolution to the radio whine issue. This time I was told that GM updated the bulletin on 6-28-12 but there still wasn't a solution and that the dealers were instructed not to change anything.

Next I tried Chevy Customer Service again. They are going to look into the problem and contact the dealer. Not sure why they are doing this. I have no reason to doubt the dealer. They printed out the service information document from GM for me last time and it clearly states "Please do not make any further repairs".

When they call back I'm going to inquire about the potential of getting a radio from a different manufacturer.

Well I finally contacted my dealer about this problem. The dealer was very nice about it, and they said that they know of the problem and had the same thing happen in a Tahoe. They replaced the radio in the Tahoe for the same reason as mine, and they had me bring the truck down.

They said that they would like to replace the radio for me, but GM has their hands tied. GM would not authorize the repair and there was nothing that the dealer could do. So I filed a formal complaint with GM, but about a week later and after several phone calls they basically told me to live with it.

I am extremely disappointed with the way GM handled this situation. Here's hoping for a class-action lawsuit, unfortunately it seems like the only way to get them to fix a problem.

Did you have the Bose system in your truck? I'm having the same issue and the same run around with a 2011 Traverse that I picked up last Saturday.
