2018 Chevy Silverado 2wd and 4wd frames are they different
Hi, recently was involved in a head on crash in my 2018 Silverado 4x4 , to make a long story short after repairs at shop I was looking at repair bill and a 2wd frame was used on my 4x4 apron cost was 3400 plus 18 hours of labor is this an ok use or should a 4x4 frame been used cost was not an issue just wondering if shop pulled a fast one on me .
truck has 12k miles and had about 20k in repairs

I am glad you survived this head-on crash. Lots of crazy drivers on the roads these days ( I drive rigs for a living, but trained as a mechanic). As to your question, back when the GMT-400's were around there wasn't any difference in the frame that I mam aware of, just a skid plate.
I wish I could inform you better on a 2018 pickup, but my old Chevy K-1500 is 21 years old now. Perhaps someone else can help you out here on your Silverado.
the towing capacities are higher for a 2wd than 4wd (based on lighter curb weight). To me, this is an indication that the frame is just as strong and most likely the same. the frames were the same on previous gens. I haven't worked on the lastest gen.
the only quick thing the bodyshop did was swap out a frame in 18 hours....that's pretty fast.
