Without trying to hijack your thread, it brings to mind a question: Why are there two different numbers, a min and a max, presented for each line decoded? For example:Gross Combined Wt Rating25100 lbs 21100.0 min 25100.0 maxWhen does the min rating apply, and when does the max rating apply?

Similarly, when to use the first number, and when to use the second number, as in your thread?

Cool Doesn't Make Sense

The brakes(nearly), transmission, gears, are all the same between a 2500 and a 3500. The weak links are the springs and tires. In my mind I can get higher capacity rated tires and add an air bag and I can then safely pull heavier fifth wheels. I'm not saying from a count room an ace lawyer wouldn't decimate me if something were to happen. I simply saying... if the weak links are taken care of, why would you not pull nearly the same as a 3500 DRW when everything else is the same? Just a thought.

I don't like the thought of having a dually with everything that comes with that. And I'm not looking to haul 31000 lbs. just slightly more than what is is currently rated as stock. Air bad / high capacity tires. anyone follow my logic? Anyone have experience with upgrades and towability?

I used the vin decoder also and it says my dead weight hitch is 5,000 LBS for max trailer wt and 500 lbs for max tongue wt. Which is the pin weight as my sticker in the door says 2,775 lbs for a goose neck tongue weight and conventional trailer is 1,850 lbs.

Does anyone know where you can really figure out the gooseneck or 5th wheel pin weight capacity? I have a 2021 2500 HD LTZ. (model code CK20743)
