Default 2500 HD Questions

I work for a seal coating (Driveway repair) business.
We have two rigs, one of which is a 2006 Chevy 2500 HD Duramax, Allison transmission.
It also has the factory towing package (I'm not sure what that includes).
It is loaded all the time, usually 500-800 lbs in the bed, also the trailer weighs 10,000 lbs full, then at the end of the week it's about 3,000 empty.
Also it get's about 1000 miles a week, 99 percent of the time with a trailer.

We always press the towing button on the shift ****, but since it's a company truck, different people drive it so it doesn't always get turned on (ouch).
I was wondering what the consequences are for not using the towing mode.
Will it eventually blow the tranny?

Also anybody have more tips for hauling all that weight all the time?

Thanks!

I believe it will wear on your tranny if you dont use it. Thats some serious hauling you got there. Get a label maker and put a sticker on the guage cluster to keep those guys using it.

You will use more fuel in tow/haul because you are getting a longer run in each gear, so rpms are higher than a normal run, however you are locked up which prevents slippage, thus reducing heat and putting all power through to the drive train.also when in tow/haul mode you will use less brakes as the engine break helps with slowing the truck. the allison will last alot longer when used properly...thats a good amount of weight to not pull it properly....wait untill your boss has to replace that allison when one of the other guys blows it up....if they can get it to break....

You will really notice it on a nice hilly road when the Dmax starts to surge on a downslope when in towhaul. It scared the *&^ outta me the first time it happened, but it is reallly helpful and I have to agree with the labelmaker option. It's just one of those things that people need to do

@Mike, yeah I'd thought the label idea, I bet my boss would like it

@92chevysilvy Yeah, it definitely helps with hauling all that weight, although a manual would be better.
