Default 350 small block rebuild question

i'm workin on rebuilding my motor and after i pulled out the crankshaft i noticed that there are some places where it has been ground off and other places where little holes have welds in them. Now i'm curious whether or not someone tried balancing it by doing this or whether someone just screwed the whole thing up. The motor has blown main bearings which i'm replacing so i'm thinking maybe i ought to replace the entire crank just in case....what do u think?

i would look at a crank kit ,sound's like somebody tried to weld up the crank and did a poor job welding it and had a lot of porous holes to be filled up . i would hold it suspect unless you had a expert at crankshaft grinding look at it .
