I'm looking for some info from all u gearheads! I have a 1996 C1500 4X2 with the 4.3L Vortech V6 Code "W". These are hard to come by around here. This truck is too nice to sell or let sit around. IT could be rebuilt but.... I'm not sure what the transmission is other than a 4Speed Automatic Overdrive. If I decide to leave the 4.3 for a V8, what (if any) engines would be a direct fit in this truck? Thanks in advance

350 uses the same trans . just change the computer

 

a v8 would be a direct fit in your truck, you would need access to the donor vehicle to make it happen though, wiring harness, computer and exhaust are the things you will be needing to change with the engine, you will want to have access to the donor and take pictures, and keep the project organised, very easy to make a project get out of control
