Default 4l60e help please

I have a 1993 chevy 1500 z71 4x4, i have a crack in my transmission and am trying to find a tranny. What years are compatible with my truck, also is there any way i can buy a two wheel drive tranny and modify the truck to make it work but keep it 4 wheel drive.

1st, the only way to make a 2wd trans work in a 4wd is to tear apart the 2wd one and change the output shaft. not a fun job to do, plus requires certain tools and knowledge to do it right. 4l60e's all interchange.

I wouldnt see why you couldnt, but check to make sure everything lines up before hand and also that it has the same electrical connections just to be safe

the 96+ could be ordered with the floor shift, but that is not the issue to worry about, I would check with a wrecking yard for interchange data the only issue you will have is the electronics internal and th plug in. but "don't quote me" but I think they are all the same in all of the "Vortec" trucks. with the exception of clutch packs internal 4.3 = light, 5.7 = heaver, Although I have read somewhere on the net someone has cracked the 4L80E into a 4L60E truck issue. if you PM me your home E-Mail I will send you what files I have copied on the issue
