i have a 97 and have replaced my transmision 3 times, i have gotten a transmission out of a 95, 96, and 98, if it is 4 wheel drive then just keep the original tranfer case, minus some little parts that you have to change out, it matches up easily, but if you have a 93, i believe that you actually have a 700r4

Default 4l60e

well she is in. I did some research ''dont quate me'' but my 93 is indeed a 4l60e and it could only come out of a 94 or 93. I didnt have any luck finding any used ones around my area but I bit the bullet and bought a new one from everdrive.com with a 3 year warranty. She is going good, i put her in on saturday. I did have a few questions though. Do i need to fill up the transfer case with fluid or with the tranny regulate it in with the tranny fluid it has. I havt put her in gear yet because i dont wanna mess it up till i find out. thanks for all thehelp and support on this project.

ummm, i cant give you a 100% answer, but every time ive taken my transmission and transfer case out ive refilled the transfer case as well, i dont think there is a set amount to go in, but i have always filled it until it was at the level of the whole you put it in, i always really thought that the transmission and transfer case were completely seperate and did not share fluuid because everything is seal on the tail shaft of the transmission but recently i broke a valve in my transmission causing the stupid thing to get stuck in 2nd gear, i had to drive 5 miles home in second gear and obviously it isnt good to keep it at 2200 rpms for 5 miles but i had to get home so i was like whatever, well anyways, when i got home i checked the transfer case fluid and it was extremely burnt just like the tranny fluid, so unless keeping it at that high of an rpm for that long also made the tranfer case burn fluid as well, i do beleive that somehow they are connected......i just thought of something.....how would the fluid in the transfer case get cooled if it is seperate? it must be connected in order to be cooled like transmission through the radiator......so id imagine it has to be connected....well anyways, regardless, ive never had a problem when i filled the transfer case too, so i would just to make sure

The transfer case is completely separate from the transmission. It is nothing but a gear box with it's own oil pump. Make sure it is full of oil.
