1998 chevy 1500 4.3. 4l60e

Trans went into limp mode (2nd and 3rd gears only. No automatic shifting.) after setting a "shift solenoid A" dtc. Removed and tested solenoid and it was bad so I replaced it along with new fluid and filter. Cleared dtc codes, started it up and the mil light came back on and trans is still in limp mode. Dont know what to try now. Please help if you can, I need to get this thing fixed so I can get back to work.
