2000 Silverado 5.3L 4WD. I got a Trans Hot message. The outside air was about 85 degrees. I was not towing. What would cause this? Truck temp gouge was running at 195.

I always start with the basics, I would check tranny fluid and make sure it is not all burnt up and what not. Check your trans cooler and lines to make sure that its not punctured. This is just my opinion on how I would go about looking for the problem, did you notice any slipping or anything going wrong besides the hot message? That might help someone that knows a lot about transmissions help you diagnose it better. Not to put him on the spot but AllanNE (i think thats how he spells it) seems to be very good with transmissions.

Were you in the mountains or the like? Doesn't make any difference what the outside air temp is, if they slip they get hot REAL fast.
Clear all the codes and watch it closely during operation. It warning pops up again, we've gotta figure out why.
Could be just a faulty sensor too.
