Question 4L80E to NV4500 conversion

I have a 2002 2500hd 6.0 with a 4L80E and 147,000 miles. It was my dads truck and has been all over the country, i dont want to sell it. I want to put a NV4500 in it when i get the money. does anyone know how much it will cost and how hard it will be?

around here 4500/s go for $1800 to $3000, depending on condition....

and why would you want to get rid of the 4L80E any way? they are way strong, any one that fries an 80 is a total IDIOT. the trans has input and out put sensors for the purpose of detecting slip within the trans. If the ECU senses a slip it reduces the torque to save the trans. Personally I would be looking at a new motor first.

just me!! and I hate sticks with a passion!!!!!

The cost shouldn't be to expensive, the trans will obviously be the most. You'd have to buy a brand new clutch and flywheel. might be aable to go to the junkyard and find all the linkage and the master cylinder. I'd say around 500-1000 on the clutch itself, depending if you want oem or performance. I'd guesstimate about 700 for everthing else. you may need a new driveshaft also. I'm unsure on the length difference of the 4l80 and the NV4500, but im pretty sure the stick is longer...

Did you ever complete this swap? I'm looking to do a similar swap in an 05 Silverado. I've already got a used nv4500 ready to go in I got it from https://reman-transmission.com/trans...s/?code=NV4500
