I have a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Z71 with a 5.3 Vortec V8, the engine is going to need replaced. What year, model, etc. 5.3 will fit in my truck???


Like will a 5.3 out of a 2001 Silverado or a 2002 Silverado fit in my truck without ANY modifications to transmission OR to the wiring harness/computer?

And could I put a 5.3 out of like a Tahoe, or Avalanche, or Trailblazer... etc.

all the 5.3 engines are the same except that from 03 and up the are drive by wire. when replacing it you can put a different size in there. the 4.8 and 6.0 engines will be good for thought too. dont go any new than an 07 though

 

imo, put a 6.0 in there pending on your gear ratio.
