Default 6.0 Towing

I have a 2007.5 Chevrolet 2500HD. Its a extended cab 6 foot bed with the 6.0, 6 speed auto, 4x4, trailering package with the coolers, and 4.10 gears. I know in the owners manual it says I can haul 12,400 pounds but I am wondering how much you can safely hual guessing you can go beyond that. I dont want to mess up anything or strain the truck but seems like you can always tow more than they say. I was looking at going on a trip with some freinds and was seeing how much weight I would be able to hual safely. Thanks, and have a good one!

if you don't want to mess anything up...the max number is the owner manual number.

Thats basically a matter of opinion. there won't be any set number. the one in the manual is low enough to be safe so the manufacturer doesn't catch a lawsuit. Sure the truck can haul more but I doubt anyone has weighed it, and "safely" is a relative term...
