I'm thinking about getting a 6.0L fairly soon. What can you guys tell me about them? I know it's basically a bored 5.3 but other then that I don't know and can't find any info. What problems do they have? etc...

the older 6.0 suck on gas but are fairly stout on towing. my friends 01 or 02 was terrible. im assuming because it was the first year for that motor.
i would love to have my friends 8.1with the allison. that thing roles and gets better mpg than me.

I got a 07 with the 6.0 and love it.It has a lot more stuff then the 5.3 I had in the 03. Wife says it feels likeour Vette. The variable valve timing, that's what I wanted, gives it a lot of low end torque. Average MPG is 14.5 for 5500 miles. The 5.3 got 15.1 for the same kind of driving. It is a lot quicker then the 6.0 in the 3/4 ton. You also get the M70 tranmission instead of the M30. I would buy it again for sure.

I had a 2005 2500HD with the 6.0 & bought a 2007 6.0 the variable valve timing does the trick! 11.0MPH with 4:10 gears to 14.5 with 3:73's & it tows more! I love it.
