i have a 83 chevy k10 4x4.......just recently it started making a winding squealing noise..........that sounds like a super charger but louder........and every time i start it i blow the fusible link on the firewall........im wondering if it could be the altenator going out.....any adivce would be appriciated

 

i can tell you from experiance.... just recently my hot wire on the altenator came off like i mean the hole bolt that it hooks to came out!!!! when it did my truck ran crapy then died, thats when i smelt wires by the time i got my hood open and started to look at what happend the fusable link from my battery to the fire wall burned... so thats what i would change is the altenator

 

i guess maybe since the altenator is going out maybe that wire isnt so hot anymore and blowing my fuse....
