89' To 94' cluster swap??
hi guys, im new here and i just got a 1989 silverado
its maroon with sliver ground effects. anyway i was not liking the "hocky-stick" style cluster with no tach, as seen here :
and i was hoping to swap it out for some as seen here:
basically i just don't want the ugly "hocky-stick"
is there any other factory cluster i can swap out?
maybe even the digital ones from the bravada's?

I would think that the connectors wouldn't be the same and the gauges wouldn't read right if at all even if the connectors were the same. Also the tach wouldn't work.

Seems to me that anything from 88-94 with the same dash style should work. theory based on; http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/cd/full.aspx?Page=35
I don't know if the gauge styles differed in those years, but if it came out of a vehicle with same dash then it should work, unless the plug style is different.
I would like to add that the second cluster you are showing is a '94 and it will fit in the '93's dash, but the tach may/probably won't work.

so what would i have to do to make the tach work?
upgrade to 94 wiring with tach wiring?
or would i be better off buying a aftermarket tach...?

I am not saying that it won't work, just that it probably won't. GM may have had the wiring in there for the tach in '93, just not a cluster that could support it.
