Default 89 c1500 engine swap (not running)

Ok so to make this clear not my truck anymore but still my problem. My buddy took a running and very strong 350 out of a 90 suburban and put it in a 89 c1500 pickup, now it wont run. He didnt change over any of the intake or sensors. So whole engine for whole engine. a couple of plugs are different, mainly the oil pressure sensor. But will not fire. It sparks once but not again. What should we look for aside from being smart and just replacing the long block with another instead of intake manifold and all (his idea not mine). I would have just replaced the long block not the whole thing, could this be a problem?

did you put in new plugs when you swapped? and did you take the starter off for the swap?

the biggest is that no the fuel pump does not turn on with key but that I think was linked to the one off plug we had that we are doing tonight but even with fuel dumped into it it wont fire. and to kinda add to it not that it matters but it literally ran the second before we pulled it out and it was transplanted that day along with the fact that the other engine indeed run to the very second before we pulled it out that same day. so just a little confused

that is strange. did you change computers as well? it could be a computer problem, not recognizing something. but if its the same engine, it really shouldn't matter...

good point no we didnt change computers. the truck originaly came with a 305 and what he is attempting is a 350 that i am not sure if is possible. the 305 was a 89 and the 350 was a 90 model year the only thing is that the 350 has cruise but not directly related to the issue
