Default 93 5.7 runs better after being held at high rpm

Hi guys,

I have a 93 5.7 tbi in my truck and it runs alright but if you hold it at a high rpm, like 4000, for about 30 seconds it seems to clean out. It quiets down, doesn't vibrate as much, and gets really responsive. After about a minute of running at low rpms it goes back to running just ok. It's had this issue for as long as I can remember. I would love to finally figure how I can get it to run beautifully all the time instead of after i've held it at high rpms.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I'd do a tune up such as new plugs, wires, rotor button, dizzy cap, fuel filter, etc.
