Default 93 Silverado - fuel pump/tank question

My 93 Silverado is stuck in a parking lot, it will start perfectly for about 10 seconds, but it won't idle and can't be kept running. It won't re-start for about 10 minutes (seems to have too much fuel to me). I have spark. I can see fuel squirting from the injectors. Is it supposed to be a squirt or a fine spray (like a spray paint can?) on these TBI injectors? It is very difficult to connect a fuel pressure guage to this model with TBI, there is no port on the fuel line, the adapter for the pressure gauge won't fit at the TBI due to the fuel return line being too close. It has to be done at the filter, but I can't do that in this parking lot without spilling gas all over - other cars all around all the time. So... If I unscrew the gas cap (it whooshes...) and the put the gas cap back on, start the truck for few seconds, and then remove the gas cap again, and there is a strong whoosh (like normal), is that a sign that the fuel pump is working. It would seem to me that it is, since I can't figure out what else would pressurize the tank?

My 93 is too old to have the security system.

I have tried to run it without the fuel cap, but the problem remains. I would say that the "air" is going into the tank.

The problem was the fuel pump, it had lasted about 5,000 miles. Towed and replaced with an AC Delco pump. We'll see what happens.
