Talking 95 Chevy 355 TBI Build

Hey guys,

I hope I posted this in the right spot, if not just move it for me. I wanted to share my build that Im working on right now.

Its a 1995 Chevy Silverado 1500 4x4 (eventually SAS with D44) 14 bolt rear 3.73 gears (I know I should have 4.56 o well) and 33/12.50/15 and 3 inch body nothing crazy. Oh and rusted a little! lol

Motor:

95 block .40 over KB pistons etc. blah blah w/ Vortec #062 heads, tapped rocker studs (stock for now might upgrade to 1:6 Comp roller rockers)
Flowtech mid-length headers and matching Flowtech Y-pipe to 3inch off collector, back to a Flowmaster Series 10 and 2.5 dual out.
No cat, 3 wire Walker O2 sensor (Possibly a EP381 fuel pump need advice on)
Not sure on compression ratio just had things surfaced want to keep it on pump gas, daily driver.

Went with a roller cam because the block had provisions to:
08-411-8 - Xtreme 4 x 4
Matched Comp 981 valve springs etc.

46mm TBI adjustable fuel pressure regulator and gauge from:R.V. Morse Machine - You Bring It, We'll Bore It!!

Edelbrock Performer Dual Plane Intake w/external coolant bypass and TBI adapter.
EGR Delete

Stock Ignition/Coil
AC Delco R44LTS plugs

Might of missed something..

Transmission:

Keeping 4L60E even though it would be nice to go to a 4L80E.
Red Eagle 8 clutch 3-4 pack and Kolene Steels
"The Beast" sunshell and Alto Carbon Fiber 2-4 band
Sonnax Performance Pack and new separator plate: HP-4L60E-01 - Performance Pack - Sonnax
Sonnax 2nd Gear Super Hold Servo:77911-03K - 2nd Gear Super Hold Servo Kit - Sonnax
Sonnax 4th Gear Super Hold Servo:77767K - 4th Gear Super Hold Dual Servo Kit - Sonnax
Revmax Torque Converter 2200-2600 stall:4L60E Stage 2 2200-2600 RPM Stall Speed Torque Converter

Tune:

And Dave from Old School EFI will be programing my chip and helping me with tuning processes and data logging etc.
Also picking up a 12 pin ALDL cable, G1 adapter, ZIF socket from Welcome to www.moates.net! : Moates.Net
Got Tuner Pro RT to work on my MacBook Pro with Parallel Wizard and then I downloaded Windows 7 Ultimate. So I can have my Mac software as well as Windows on the same computer. Pretty Sweet!

Think thats it. This is the only somewhat current picture of it I have right now..I will get more once I get rolling on the build itself.

Timeframe it will be done in late April early May.

Questions or advice feel free!

Will your brackets for the a/c and alternator bolt on to the vortec heads?

The engine you a removing has heads casting # 193 right?

Im almost positive they will fit because they have the same looking bolt pattern on the ends of the head like the TBI ones, but that was a glance though I figured that wasn't a problem because the Vortec heads I got came off a 96 Silverado the brackets couldn't of changed that much between 95 and 96, don't quote me though, I will double check when I get them back from machine shop.

No idea on casting number but I do know TBI heads are junk, they don't flow good at all (don't remember cc), unless you're a porting guru, even then not worth it. Hope that helped a little..

Thanks
Max

TBI heads flow less and have a 4800 rpm redline.

Thanks was planning on using 98 heads with Carbed Intake with 600 cfm carb, shorties and other goodies.

Yep further backs up my comment, scrap them TBI heads.

I was thinking the same thing with a carb when I first started planning build because I have a 600 cfm carb too. But I just decided to use TBI, but carb wouldn't be bad I suspect. Will be cool either way man!
