95 Chevy Silverado 4x4 Conversion
I have a 95 Chevy Silverado K1500 and it is 2WD and I am looking to convert it to 4WD. How hard is this to do? I have read that it is easier to do on pre 97 models. How much do you think this will cost?
P.S. I know it this is a charged topic and it is probably easier just to buy a 4x4 truck, but this was my late grandfather's truck, so I want to drive this truck as long as I can and I am constantly finding myself in need of 4WD.
Thanks.

Converting it to a 4WD shouldn't be that hard to do , cost wise i have no clue.. Also I don't know if you will need extra stuff to connect the tranny to the engine , but other then that you will need a 4WD front axle , don't know about the rear axle . i would just buy a 4x4 but since you wanna keep your grandfathers truck i would go for it!

you will need a new rear drive shaft and the front drive shaft as well. will have to make sure the the gear ratio are the same in the front and the rear diff. you will need the linkages as well and need to mount them in the truck somehow. this can be very costly. and lots of fab work will need to be done.
why don't you just use the truck as a second vehicle and go buy a 4x4 for what you need it for.
just saying that's what i would do.
