Hey guys, im a newbie at this site so bear with me while I get comfortable. First I was just handed a 96 1500 2x2 with 241k, and has been maintained very well until now. Check engine light is on with many codes. I think I know what my course of action is, but my GM experience is mostly with race cars, not with "stock" vehicles. Any help would be appreciated; first code p0300, along with P0175, P0172, and lastly a P0141. Yes, it does have a misfire, so my first action is a complete tune-up. Will this complete tune-up clear up the P0141. The truck runs strong aside from the misfire, and does not use any oil.
Now for more! The next set of codes deal with the tranny, although it shifts great. My thought is all this might have something with the earlier issues, but im not sure. P0758,P0753,and P1864. Once again I appreciate the insight. Thanks

The codes P0175 ,P0172 and P0141 have to do with fuel mixture at the O2 sensors ( bank 1&2 ) in the exhaust stream. Either you have issues with the sensors or the the exhaust system ( leaks or the cat ). These would also contribute to the P0300 misfires. While a tune up wouldn't hurt it's not likely to clear up the issues.

Thanks Golfer, I certainly will inspect those areas mentioned. I suspect the 02 sensors have never been replaced though. I cant tell you guys how immaculate this truck is. I was truly given a nice gift.

You may want to do the tune up first. I say this cause I have a 96 5.7 vortec, the computer said it was running rich. My first thought was oxygen sensor, it turned out I had a bad plug and the computer didn't pick it up. I would suggest looking at the o2 sensors though. It may be time to replace them anyway.
