Default '96 z71 tranny sticks

I have a 1996 chevy z71 with the 5.7 auto trans not sure what kind of tranny it is though. But i bought this truck not too long ago and it ran fine. About 3 days ago my transmission started to not want to shift out of 1st gear. If i let off the gas it will shift but thats the only way it will. The truck has 194K and i just had the trans serviced today. Any ideas on this?

id say if you had it serviced and it still does it after almost 200,000 miles its time for a fresh rebuild!!

Maybe a dumb question but did you check the fluid level? Are you missing another gear like reverse or 3rd.Could be burnt clutch packs or bad solinoids

Ditto.
If it's the original trans it's time for a re-build.
