Default 97 Silverado AC Help Please

Hello All, Im hoping to finish up my evap core replacement this weekend and have a few questions. I have a 97 silverado Ext Cab 4X4 and am replacing the evap core, condensor, dryer and hoses. This was a small repair that turned huge after some threads stripping out here and there. Anyways, I have added freon before, but never dealt with the oil part of it. Ive got a friend that can pull a vacum on it. What kind of oil? How much? How do I get it in there? Any tips would help. Thank You

Ok Thanks, I ve seen different Pag Oils like 55, 45 and so on. Im guessing thats the weight of the oil. Which would be best ? The compressor would be the only thing that still has oil in it. Any idea how much oil ? How do I get it into the system ? Do I put it into the evap core itself before I hook up the hoses ? Whats the best way ? Sorry for all the questions. This has already cost me a small fortune. Hoping to save the $ 160 they want to evacuate and recharge.

Well I got everything back together after about 6 hr's, but havnt charged it up yet. I ended up pulling the compressor and turned it over to get the rest of the oil out of the system. I then put the PAG directly into the top of the compressor. It called for 8oz and I was able to get it all in at the compressor. Should that be ok ? Also, when I put the dryer back on I noticed it was not level, but everything bolted up ok. Should this be ok ? I must have bent the bracket.

Yeah it was a JOB ! Still not worth the $ 750 they wanted to put the Evap Core in though. It was just very time consuming. Whoever at GM had the idea to have the metal to aluminum connections on every AC connection should be fired ! It was a chain reaction. This all started with just a simple service port on the ac that had to be repaired.
