Hi there. I have a 1998 Chevy 1500 4x4 with a 350 vortec and a 4l60e transmission. I have had this truck for a little over a year now and it has been awesome. It has 215,800 miles and it runs like brand new. Well I just finished making it look like what I want and the other day I was noticing that my Trans temp is higher than usual. Usually 165-185. It all of a sudden was at like 210-230. Im not sure if its the tires and wheels (33x12.50x20 with 20" Dub wheels) or if its something to do with the transmission or torque converter. I do also have a super chip that I had the shift pressure turned up on if that matters at all. Please help!

 

Have you checked the fluid level? You might just wanna change it. if you got this truck from somebody you know see if they have changed it recently. you might just have low fluid which will cause it to heat quicker and warmer. or it might be old which will retain more heat for a longer amount of time.

 

I think you answered your own question, if you start adding weight/friction and putting more load on the trans it'll run hotter. First thing I'd do is turn the super chip to stock and see if it changes.
