Swapping the wiring harness won't change anything. Chances are something small like a ground or a sensor was missed. Since you can drive it now, I would go a head and take it into a shop and have them locate and fix the issue.

I have not had one go on my Chevy but from my experience with my brothers 96 Ford F-150 a bad or not functioning Knock sensor will send a misfire code to the computer, it may be the same with the Chevy. Take it in to a shop, they will find the issue and you'll have your truck back.

Default Shop

Well, now after 500 more dollars, new distributor and fuel filter it still isn't running correctly....BTW its been in a shop!! Now they want to change fuel pump...reading 54PSI on top of intake and they say its suppose to be between 60-66. Id be looking at another 400-600 bucks to swap out fuel pump because we all know the straps are rusted and going to cause an issue in turn means more labor....thinking its time to throw in the towel and trade it in.....

Dude..., you just changed a motor, fuel pump will be a snap. If that CPU is the one that goes to the 5.7 and your fuel pressure is still that low go a head and change the fuel pump out. You can do this at home in one of a couple different ways. You can drop the tank or go through the bed. I prefer dropping the tank my self but this is one of those to each their own things. It'll only take you half an hour give or take.

not to beat a dead horse on this but seems like no one can figure out why the damn truck wont run properly. New distributor, wires, plugs again...fuel pressure checks at 54 PSI....so they think fuel pump now...Im tending to think it has something to do with the exhaust?? UUUUGH!!

i'm unsure i think you said cyl 6 misfire

if you have your injectors out for long (during swap) they are prone to rust or clog.

i'm going to say diagnose this like a new problem unrelated if you have cyl 6 misfire code
